Here is a letter we received from Maddison who is on holiday in Australia:
Good Morning Team Pukeko
We arrived at our holiday house yesterday. It has a video camera when you push the doorbell and there is a screen inside so you can see their face. The house has a swimming pool and in the swimming pool is a spa. We went for a swim this morning. It was warm in the spa but it was cold in the pool. Today the touch world cup starts and my uncle is playing for New Zealand. We bought New Zealand flags to support New Zealand.

War medals
Fletcher brought in his Great Grandfathers war medals for us to look at. He was an ambulance driver in the war. The medals were very heavy.

Planting a special pine
Today the whole school went out to plant a special pine tree. It was grown from a seed from the original Gallipoli Lone Pine. Only five were planted in the South Island and one was at our school! We will have to take good care of it! Nat who was in World War 2 came along to help us plant it. We had a minute silence to remember the men who fought in Gallipoli and sang the National Anthem.

Term two
We had a wonderful first day of term two! The kids were bright and breezy and seemed happy to be back! This week we are learning about Anzac Day. This afternoon we went for a walk to the war memorial and listened to the last post. We have lots of great books to read, videos to watch and activities.
